SKY PILATES – GROUP CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

FOUNDATION

A 4-class series that introduces the key principles of Pilates on the Reformer. This is a pre-requisite to move onto Level 1 Reformer class.

REFORMER

The Reformer is one of the major pieces of equipment with an extensive repertoire providing a full body work-out, so we offer different level classes suitable for all levels of experience:

  • Level 1 – This class builds on the key Pilates principles of core strength and fluidity of movement learnt in Foundation to move you onto the next level.
  • Level 2 – Intermediate class level, adding in new exercises and challenges to core, co-ordination, focus and balance.
  • Level 3 – Advanced class including some of the hardest exercises in the reformer repertoire.

TOWER

The Tower is a compact version of another Pilates apparatus called the Cadillac (the largest apparatus designed by Joseph Pilates). The Tower has springs in a variety of locations, allowing your legs, arms, and torso to work directly with the spring resistance, which can be adjusted for your height, weight, and strength. The Pilates Tower is an extremely versatile piece of Pilates apparatus and like all other pieces of Pilates apparatus, can be used to further challenge or give support in order to address the functional needs of the advanced as well as the beginner Pilates enthusiast.

If you have been attending the Level 1 Reformer group classes for some months and are comfortable working with the Reformer and have attained a good sense of your body and movement, the Tower/Mat class is designed to challenge your stability and mobility further.

MAT

Mat Pilates is a series of exercises designed by Joseph Pilates to be performed on a mat as described in his book “Return to Health through Contrology”. Relying on your own body’s resistance to gravity to develop and challenge your strength and stability, Mat Pilates can often be more challenging than equipment-based workouts.

Currently unavailable as a group class. Available by appointment only as a private group class (minimum of 4 to start) or a private / duo / trio class. Please email us to enquire.
